What was your cancer diagnosis and how was it discovered?
My cancer diagnosis was Triple Negative Breast Cancer Stage 2B. I discovered my cancer in an atypical way. Most don’t have any type of symptoms, but I had a super painful area on my left breast; no one could even touch it without it causing me extreme pain. So, I ended up in the ER, which is how I ended up getting scheduled for a diagnostic mammogram and biopsy. The lump in my left breast was so hard that the doctor who performed the biopsy was having such a hard time trying to get a sample from it that the needle went thru the rock-hard lump.
Then, on February 9, 2019, I got the call at 9:34am that changed me, and my family’s, lives forever: “I am so sorry, but the biopsy came back positive you have cancer. I am so sorry ma’am.”
What is the biggest piece of advice you have for newly diagnosed patients or supporters of newly diagnosed patients?
Take Everything One Day At A Time!! Empowerment is Key!! It will be (and still is) so easy to become overwhelmed, but never let that stop you.

It’s not easy not knowing what to do, and as patients we never expect anyone to give us the right words. All we desire are pure and true loving words & pure and true loving support from our loved ones. Don’t become invisible…a phone call or text is everything when you are sitting in chemo alone. Trust Me!!
What is the most important thing you have learned from your cancer experience?
That my strength truly came from within. There are days when I still can’t process that I had cancer. Yet here I am thriving and living my new life. #NewLifeWhoDis.
I also learned that it takes a strong one to stick with you through something as difficult as cancer is. So, I would like to take this opportunity to thank My Best Friend & Business Partner, Judah A. He was there through it all, and not once did he give up on me. Thank You Judah, you are a true light to the world.
What was the most difficult aspect of organizing care / community?
The most difficult for me was dealing with the ramifications of the COVID Pandemic. I took me a year to have my DIEP Surgery because it kept being rescheduled due to COVID. I believe that I was rescheduled at least 3 times before I got a date that stuck.
What are a few things that you couldn't live without during treatment?
Galaxy Buds, Favorite Blanket, Gatorade, Starbucks, Chap Stick, fresh fruit, and yogurt. All the essentials for me, basically!

I am a busy woman to say the least, but with this new life I am determined to make it count and leave a legacy for my sons.
