Skin Cancer Detection Apps that Demystify Your Moles

You’ve heard of skin cancer before. You might not, however, know the difference between the types of skin cancer or when to see a doctor about a blemish on your skin.

You’re not alone.

If you’ve ever joined Skin Cancer support groups on Facebook, you’ve probably poured through endless pictures of moles, freckles, and potentially cancerous lumps on people’s skin. Instead of crowdsourcing the answer to whether these discolorations are cancerous or not, you can use these apps that analyze your skin. Of course, these apps are not yet reliable enough to replace doctors; however, these skin cancer screening apps can be a good first step if you’re concerned about your skin’s health as you age. It’s never too early to check on your skin.

  1. SkinVision : Developed by dermatologists, this application uses an AI algorithm to determine if you’re at risk for skin cancer. While the app isn’t free, there are affordable options. It is 6.99 euros for a one-time analysis, or 49.99 euros for unlimited analysis for a whole year. If you’re concerned about your skin, this is a small investment in your peace of mind.
  1. MiiSkin : This is another premium app that uses AI technology to track skin blemishes. While it does cost money, there is a 30-day free trial that allows you to test it before you purchase.
  1. MoleMapper: MoleMapper, according to their page, is “a cell phone app designed to help you map, measure, and monitor your moles over time.” This free application is a great way to keep track of your skin as you age so you can stay worry-free.
  1. UMSkinCheck: UMSkinCheck is a free mobile app that also allows you to track changes to your skin over time. It’s a self-guided exam that will alert you when a change could be cancerous. This app also provides skin care tips and information about skin cancer so you can feel more comfortable.
  1. MoleScope: This app takes high resolution photos and magnifies blemishes on your skin to better analyze them. It allows you to digitally send your dermatologist photos so you can catch any cancerous growths sooner.

Regardless of your genetic history, downloading any of these apps can help you track your skin health and give you a better chance of discovering any problematic conditions sooner. And isn’t a secure, cancer-free life something that we all want?
